LightCatcher 6a is one of in series of glass pieces from research into historical lace and glass. This one is from William Larkin’s portrait of Richard Sackville in Kenwood House.
In 2000 Paddy began researching into glass and lace, but she had to abandon it for work commitments. In 2010 it began again with advice and help from her friend and fellow artist Paul Scott. In 2017 she received an Arts Council England grant for a solo exhibition, Drawn Thread Work, at Customs House Gallery in South Shields. It was part of the DRAWING project, led by gallery curator Esen Kaya. Paddy restarted research into lace, glass materials and techniques, working with the University of Sunderland Glass & Ceramics department at the National Glass Centre. The glass is cut by the university water jet cutter, then Paddy draws the individual pieces.
Please note that LightCatchers are not waterproof
