Reticella NeckLace 5c is one of in series of glass pieces from research into historical lace and glass. This one is from William Larkin’s portrait of Edward Sackville in Kenwood House.
In 2000 Paddy began researching into historical glass and lace, but she had to abandon it for work commitments. In 2010 it began again with advice and help from her friend and fellow artist Paul Scott. In 2017 she received an Arts Council England grant for a solo exhibition, Drawn Thread Work, at Customs House Gallery in South Shields. It was part of the DRAWING project, led by gallery curator Esen Kaya. Paddy restarted research into lace, glass materials and techniques, working with the University of Sunderland Glass & Ceramics department at the National Glass Centre. The University water jet cutter cuts the glass, then Paddy draws the individual pieces, and fires them at the university.
