Reticella NeckLace 5a is one of in series of glass jewellery pieces from researching historical lace and glass. This one is from William Larkin’s portrait of Edward Sackville in Kenwood House. Paddy Killer received an Arts Council England grant. This was for an exhibition, and to work with the University of Sunderland Glass & Ceramics department at the National Glass Centre. The University waterjet-cutter cuts the glass. Paddy draws the individual pieces, and fires them at the university.
Paddy Killer began researching into glass and lace in 2000. She had to abandon it for work commitments. In 2010 it began again with advice and help from her friend and fellow artist Paul Scott. In 2017 she had a solo exhibition, Drawn Thread Work, at Customs House Gallery in South Shields. It was part of the DRAWING project, led by gallery curator Esen Kaya. Paddy received an ACE grant for the exhibition, and research into lace, glass materials and techniques began again.
