made for the exhibition Sons and Mothers at the Collins Gallery, University of Stratclyde, Glasgow. It illustrates the boy racer Phaethon’s fatal chariot ride through the morning sky. After asking his mother Clymene if Apollo was really his father, he pleaded with Apollo to drive it for a day. He plunges into the water after being hit with a thunderbolt thrown by Zeus after he goes too close to the sun.
