The ending of a marriage. The white roses (Yorkshire) are strangled by the thistles (Scotland), and a rose is crushed by hand, the petals falling to the floor. The brokenhearted listener clings onto all she has left, the cat (Mici). Windows of important events are broken. The artist was working on a piece about their lives together. Above the fireplace was to be a mirror to illustrate their future. It had no image, prophetic as there was no future.
